What You’ve Heard About Pregnancy Centers—And What’s True at Ours

If you’ve found your way to this post, you’re likely facing an unexpected pregnancy, or perhaps you’re supporting someone who is.

You are probably also struggling to know whether or not you can trust a pregnancy center.

I get that.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there regarding pregnancy centers, their services and their intentions.

While I cannot speak on behalf of all pregnancy centers, I can speak openly and honestly about Pregnancy Resource Center of Tracy.

Here are a few common things people have heard and what’s actually true here at PRC of Tracy:

“Pregnancy Centers are Fake Clinics”

At PRC of Tracy, we are a free primary care clinic licensed by the state of California. All of our medical services are provided under the direction of medical professionals and in accordance with state regulations.

“They are going to talk you about of an abortion.”

Our job is not to decide for you. You can rest assured that our staff is strictly prohibited from telling you what to do... even when asked!

We’re here to give you medically accurate information, a listening ear, and a quiet moment to think through your next step. You won’t get pressure here, just support.

“They give out false information about abortion risks.”

At PRC of Tracy, we are committed to providing evidence-based, medically accurate and easily verifiable information. You will not receive any information about abortion procedures or risks that is not medically backed.

“They're going to shame and judge you.”

Absolutely not. We are not here to shame, judge or lecture anyone. Our team is here because we care. We know each woman's story is unique and often times complex. Many of us have been where you are, there is no shame or judgment!

We offer support to every woman, regardless of her background, beliefs, or decisions.

“They are a political organization." 

We do not support or endorse any political party, campaign or candidate and we are not a political organization. The only time we may engage in activism is in matters that directly impact pregnancy centers and our ability to serve our community.

“They are a religious group trying to force their beliefs on you." 

PRC of Tracy is a Christian ministry. This simply means that those of us who work here, serve our community as a service to God. We will never push our faith onto you. We are more than happy to pray or offer spiritual guidance but only if that is what you want. Your religious  beliefs have no bearing on our services.

“They don't perform abortions.”

This is true! We do not perform or refer for abortions but this does not mean we do not care or cannot help women considering abortion. We can provide a pregnancy verification, options support and (in many cases) a free ultrasound before you take your next step in your pregnancy decision.

An ultrasound can confirm a viable pregnancy, whether it’s in the uterus, and how far along you are. If you're considering abortion, this is important information to have before making a decision.

At PRC of Tracy, we believe that every woman deserves a space to breathe, ask questions, and be heard, especially when facing hard decisions.
